Catalepsia is a gothic doom metal band from Riga, Latvia. There is no official date of band's birth but its story began in 2005 when Catalepsia's founder Ervīns Francs decided to make something out of his guitar playing and found people who held the same views. In fall 2015 the band released its debut album World of Cliché. In early 2016 Catalepsia surprised its listeners by participating in the Latvian national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. The band ranked as second at the national final. The mainstream contest opened up new horizons and introduced doom metal to broader audience.
